Alan

GUITAR AND VOCALS

Alan - Thee Mr. E Band

My favorite song we’re currently playing live is:
Cover Me by Bruce Springsteen

Alan (Glenmont) began his musical journey as a child, learning to read music and playing the clarinet. At age 13 he began learning the guitar and found its ease of use, compared to a clarinet, to be a no-brainer. At that time, he attended his first concert of the McCoys, of “Hang on Sloopy” fame, a reward for raising money for the local Shriner’s Hospital. At age 15, he and his friends formed a band called the Night Watch. With his Framus hollow body guitar, he played mostly rhythm guitar and sang back up. The Night Watch was very popular in late-60’s Springfield, Massachusetts, playing in nightclubs, including The Hive, and for parties and receptions. Musical influences include The Beatles, Rolling Stones, other British Invasion groups, and some of the singer-songwriters of the late 60’s and early 70’s like James Taylor and Jonathan Edwards.

For the next 40 years, Alan spent his time with his Guild acoustic guitar, a couple of 12-strings, a nylon-string, etc, playing at coffee houses and mostly for friends and family. He also puts alternative words to hit songs for special occasions. His son, Josh, picked up the music “bug” and has blossomed to become a terrific guitar player and music writer, after getting his music business degree at Oneonta State in New York. Alan is excited to be part of Thee Mr. E Band and enjoys the camaraderie and teamwork that goes with it.
